The Chocolate Café on Bolton Street in Ramsbottom has hit upon a quirky way to fix customers’ chocolate cravings – the café’s solid Chocolate Pizza featuring white chocolate “cheese” and plain chocolate “olives” is going down a treat, with customers taking away personalised pizzas in cardboard delivery boxes.
Says café owner, Paul Morris: “It has become a real talking point for customers in the shop. The concept might seem a bit strange, but people are requesting personalised pizzas for birthday presents and as quirky gifts. Perhaps we should introduce chocolate black puddings next!”
Paul and Emma Morris from Ramsbottom launched their café venture last May after trading a life on the French Riviera for a career serving teas, coffees, light lunches and luxury chocolate products from their premises near Ramsbottom’s famous “Tilted Urn” sculpture.
The Chocolate Café includes a chocolate delicatessen downstairs in addition to the popular café upstairs. The café makes chocolate products on site in addition to stocking exclusive chocolate ranges from Europe.
The business has enjoyed a successful first few months, and is involved in plans to stage Ramsbottom’s first chocolate festival next year.
Concludes Paul: “We’ve lots of ideas to help put Ramsbottom on the “food” map. The town has some great restaurants and the farmers market is a real attraction for people from across the region. Since opening, we have been made to feel very welcome by local businesses and our customers.”
